Welcome sweet Sadie your family is so excited you have joined us!!
Well, I will say that when you have a scheduled C-Section the "birth story" does lack some drama...but when they tell you your wrong scheduled time...now that makes it more interesting! I was told to be at the hospital at 9:30 am because I was scheduled for an 11:30 delivery. I thought it was a little strange that it was at eleven since they try to get the scheduled operations out of the way first thing in the morning. So Rabu and I get up and have a fairly leisurely morning. We are on our way out the door and about to take the last preggo picture and Rabu's phone rings. It's for me. It's the hospital wondering where we are. Apparently I am scheduled to go into surgery at 9:30. I told the sweet lady on the phone that i was told to be there at 9:30 and we are on our way. Now if this was my first baby I think this would have freaked me out. Since this was my third time to the circus I quickly realized it wasn't too big of a deal, it wasn't my fault and we would get there when we get there. So we took the picture and headed to the hospital.
When we got there, I checked in and they immediately took me back to prep me for surgery. Two nurses were working like the wind to get me ready in time. Of course we were not ready by my scheduled time so we waited, and waited, and waited. Just waiting for Dr. Blackstock to finish her other surgeries and for an OR to open up. Finally at 12:00 they said it would be any minute now...so about 1:00 they took me to deliver! Yay!!!
They took me to the same room that Lexi was delivered in. Gave me my spinal block and then before I knew it they were bringing Rabu in and were really close to delivering our sweet baby girl. It did not seem to take long and I heard Sadie cry... she was so good to mommy that she cried as soon as she was delivered. I got to get a quick peek at her then they took her away to weigh her and bundle her up. Rabu brought her back to me and I got to see her sweet little face. We still were not sure of her name so we just called her baby girl.
God was so good an gave us a large post-partum room and once we got settled we had the girls Godparents bring Lexi and Paisley up to meet their new little sister. By this point Rabu and I had discussed a few names and had decided on Sadie but still did not tell anyone until we talked to Lexi about it. She had been adamant through the who pregnancy that the baby would come out and tell us what her name is. So when Lexi got there I asked her if she wanted to ask the baby her name. She said no, but that I should. So I asked the baby her name and told Lexi that she said Sadie and asked Lexi what she thought about that. The biggest brightest smile went across Lexi's face and she said yeah that's good. So Sadie was named, well kinda. We still did not have a middle name. We decided on Giovanna because it was a name that Rabu really liked but never seemed to fit any of our girls for a first name. Sadie means "Princess" and Giovanna means "God is Gracious".
Sadie is the most amazing baby ever!!! The first night we were home she slept for four hours woke up to eat quickly and went right back to sleep for another four hours. AWESOME! She has continued to be a fantastic sleeper. I am so thankful.
Her first smile was when she was looking at her big sister Lexi. She coos and smiles nonstop when you make eye contact with her. She has such a sweet spirit about her... I cannot wait to see her little personality.
The girls are adjusting well to having baby sister around. They love her and love holding her. These girls are more of a blessing than I ever thought possible. God is so Good!
